Bigay Puso sa Pasko visits indigenous Aeta tribes for the first time
This year marked the 13th year of Bigay Puso sa Pasko, our annual Christmas outreach program for children and families in underserved communities in the Philippines. Thanks to the support of our community of donors, we provided Jollibee meals, grocery packages, and toys for 530 kids in the following communities:
Orani, Bataan
Sta. Cruz, Manila
Payatas, Quezon City (Lupang Pangako Elementary School)
Lourdes, Quezon City (D. Tuazon Elementary School)
Sitio Culasisi, Antipolo (Mountain View Free Learning Center)
Poblacion, Makati (Annex House)
Ilagan, Isabela (Lupigue Integrated School)
Pudtol, Apayao (Capannikian Pudtol Barangay Hall)
It was our first year visiting the communities in Bataan, Isabela, and Apayao, where we met with Aeta tribes for the first time. The Aeta (pronounced as “eye-ta,”) are an indigenous people who live in scattered, isolated mountainous parts of Luzon, Philippines. They are thought to be among the earliest inhabitants of the Philippines, preceding the Austronesian migrations.
